The pirate may be bought from the Game Shop after crafting the Community Center 2 upgrade.

The pirate will start looking for Regular Treasure Maps which will award a Chest to the player once the riddle is solved.

Regular Treasure Maps

Regular Treasure maps may be found once the player has bought a Pirate from the Game Shop after crafting the Community Center 2 upgrade. After the Treasure Map is completed, players will receive a Treasure Chest.

Green Treasure Maps

Green Treasure maps may be found once the player has found the Pirate's Monoculars while Gathering within the Quiet Pond. After the green treasure map is completed, players will receive a Green Treasure Chest.

All of the chests in Idle Pixel may be opened with different crafted Keys.

Red Treasure Maps

Red Treasure maps may be found once the player has found the Sextant from an Evil Pirate, which can be encountered after crafting the Pirate Ship. After the red treasure map is completed, players will receive a Red Treasure Chest.

Regular Chests

Regular treasure chests are rewarded when solving the riddle from a Regular Treasure Map (or fighting Faradox Guardian 1) and may be opened with different Keys from Crafting.

Blue Orbs have a 1/36 chance per slot to be looted when opening a regular chest.

Regular Keys

Keys are a type of tool which may be crafted with different bars and, optionally, a specific gem. Each key will give the player a different amount of reward slots when opening any type of Chest .

Ancient Chest Keys

Unlike other key types, Ancient Keys can be used on all chests, and give twice the number of rolls when used. They require a Crafting level of 100, 5 Ancient Bars, 1 Ancient Broken Key (which can only be obtained from the Submarine) and, optionally, a Gem to craft.

Mimics

Mimics are a fake version of a chest. They can be obtained by opening a chest, which will remove the treasure chest and put a mimic into your key items inventory. The key will not be consumed on use if a mimic is created. If you lose the fight against the mimic, you will lose the mimic and the chest, receiving no loot from either. The stats can be seen on the mouseover tooltip, or below:
