Tools are a main part of the game, allowing the player to progress within any type of skills. After receiving the Socket Scroll from quests, tools may be socketed with gems which increase their effectiveness/efficiency.
An old guide for in which order you should gem your tools can be found here. Trap is in top three to upgrade. Diamond trap is twice as good as ruby so a better proportional upgrade than diamond upgrade for brewing kit or axe.
