Beg her to teach you and pay 100 coins to get quizzed. Now you need to answer a series of questions (answers in spoiler below).

Attempt to buy the crystal from the thief, he will ask for half your current coin (you get it back once the quest is complete.)
Requirements
Previous quest and have slain 3 thieves in the Forest
Quest chain
Fight the Thieves leader, he will run away once defeated once. Continue chasing him through zones (and gathering once) he leaves notes.
