Crafting is a skill that you craft items to help you progress, for example: crafting Drills, to let you get rarer resources from Mining, or upgrading your Furnace to let you smelt more resources all at once.
Heres the time for making bars in case you may not wonder:
Bronze Bars: 2 sec each
Iron Bars: 5 sec each
Silver Bars: 14 sec each (if you want to make 5 gold bars with just one smelting upgrade potion, you can drink it at the last bar smelted after 12 sec, note that it is not 13 sec due to the potion being drinked at the NEXT tick)
Gold Bars: 48-50s
